ITINERARY

Day 1.

The Kornati tour begins with Zadar.

Walking tour of Zadar is organized. A city with 3,000 years of history with exceptional and extremely valuable cultural heritage. It is a true treasure of archaeological and monumental treasures of ancient, medieval and the renaissance periods of history. Zadar is also a city of contemporary architectural creations, we recommend experiencing the amazing sounds of the first Sea Organ where you can listen to the music of the ocean.

Free time to explore and enjoy Zadar on their own, spending the evening enjoying the comforts of the yacht/catamaran.

Note: We recommend our guests to pick up groceries throughout the day (food and drinks) because there are often no supply stores in the islands.

Day 2 . – 4. The Kornati stroll

The Kornati are a taste buds paradise. There is nowhere in the world with such a magical environment with so many places where you enjoy original and natural delicacies. In almost every bay you will find a restaurant or tavern with local specialties: fish, lobsters, squid, cuttlefish and octopus, shellfish and Kornati lamb. Dishes are prepared using traditional methods, on a home-made hearth, baked “under the bell” or on grills, with local spices cultivated fresh from around the islands. Restaurants differ only in the imagination and taste of the fishing family that runs it.

The Kornati archipelago also includes the beautiful Nature Park Telaščica. It forms a wonderful harmony between the surrounding waters and 13 islands, islets and cliffs. A walking tour through Telašćica Park with an expert guide pointing out all the amazing sights and natural beauty is available for those looking for a little bit of exercise while on holiday! (walk takes approximately 2h).

The owners of almost all of the 150 Kornati islands are Kurnatars and hail from the island of Murter, with 89 of the islands now being declared as national parks (http://np-kornati.hr). Over the centuries the inhabitants built dry stone walls to enable the cultivation of the dry and sandy soil enabling them to grow crops and farm livestock. A visit to family Farm which located in the park and is a must for our guests and offers the chance to buy local souvenirs, homemade fruits and vegetables, and homemade products plus you can also visit the donkey farm. On the island of Kornat our guests will visit  farm where products of the highest quality are made from sage and immortelle in harmony with nature. The purity of untouched nature is transformed into medicinal essential oils, teas and hydrolysate (need a better word here) that guest can buy and enjoy while on the tour or take them with them to enjoy later.

The region can be enjoyed all season long, but they are the most beautiful in spring and autumn. In spring the flora and fauna springs to life in a hive of colour and activity while in Autumn the grass changes colour from summer yellow to a wonderful green and trees turn a rich and vibrant red creating a stunning colour palate.

Day 4. And Day 5. Murter, Šibenik and Skradin

The locals of the Kornati islands used to come to the Murter island every day by small wooden boats so-called Betinski Gajetas. While stopping at Murter our guests can visit the Gajete Museum.

Finally  the tour begins with a truly special route, sailing into the Krka Canyon.

Our first stop is Šibenik and is an unmissable stop on the way to Skradin and the Krka waterfalls. A medieval town with a well-preserved old town, it is situated on a steep coast, with three imposing fortresses (St. Ana, Subicevac and St. John) and a world-famous cathedral unmissable because of the white stone it was built from. Here we will take a guided tour of Sibenik old town and where you will visit the Cathedral of St. James which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

We sail on from Sibenik continuing upstream with the Krka River and Prokljan Lake, shellfish farms accompany you along the coast where there will also be the opportunity to buy shellfish directly from the farmers.

At the end of the tour, you come to a true “seaside” town in the heart of the continent, squeezed in a green canyon. Skradin’s past goes back to the 1st century BC. No wonder, since it is not easy to find such a well-protected port. The entire city center of Skradin is a protected cultural monument.

Skradin is a unique place on the Croatian gastronomic map, where fish from the Krka river, sea fish, shellfish, but also venison from the surrounding hills, and poultry and the best lambs from local farms all cooked with recipes and spices inherited from the colourful past of the region. We strongly recommend our guests to try the Skradin restaurants specialties but please note we advise our guests to reserve a dinner table before leaving for the Krka National Park.

In the afternoon our guests will take a NP Krka boat upstream for a tour of the National Park’s waterfalls.

We cannot pass the Skradin without visiting the one of the best Winery in this area. Winery that offers excellent gourmet programs in addition to fine wines. We suggest tasting their wines, paired with excellent local delicacies in 7 courses, which will end this wonderful Adriatic tour.
